Welcome to Cedar Mountain Elementary!
I am the proud principal of Cedar Mountain Elementary! It is my pleasure to welcome you to an amazing year of learning! We educate children from Pre-K -5th grade at our elementary building which is located in Franklin. We have a smaller school feeling with new innovative ideas in education! Our teachers do a variety of team teaching and departmentalizing within their grade levels. During the week our students have classes with teachers who specialize in Music, Technology, and Physical Education. Our students also have the opportunity to use up-to-date technology and visit our library which is full of great literature!
We are proud of the progress our students are showing each year both academically and socially.
We will continue to work hard to reach our academic goals while maintaining a safe and caring learning environment. All of our staff -- cooks, janitors, para-professionals, and teachers -- are committed to providing our children with an exciting and enriching educational experience! We are excited to catch students following our school expectations and award them with "Cougar Pride Paws" and Pride postcards.
We are proud of our Parent Aware 4 Star Rated School Readiness Program that we offer at both buildings. Children that are 3 years old by September 1 may attend school two mornings a week. Children that 4 or 5 and are one year away from kindergarten attend for two afternoons a week. An additional class is offered on alternative Fridays called " Fun Fridays". It is available to 3-5 year olds and focuses on literacy. We offer Kindergarten Jump Start on alternate Fridays for the whole day for our students that will be enrolled in kindergarten the following year. You may call the elementary office if you are interested in learning more about these programs.
Your children will be excited to be using technology even more in their classrooms. Grades K-5 have mobile iPad carts in their classrooms and use iPads throughout their day. We have a computer lab and all teachers have an iPad, computers, and SMART boards in their classrooms.
We believe that parents are the first and most important teachers and we value your input and partnership with us in the education of your children. It is important that you offer your children words of encouragement, hugs, show an interest in their work, and be present at school events. I encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns throughout the year.
I feel privileged to serve as the principal of this fine school that is filled with great children and great staff! I know that the time you and your children spend at Cedar Mountain School will be rewarding!
