Of Interest to Parents

Cedar Mountain School District is always looking for information to share with our community. Whether it be for better learning skills, creating a better environment, or protecting our students.

We will update this site with our findings.

    Educational Benefits
  • MNParentsKnow.info – the parent Website hosted by the Department of Education – has newly expanded features to include:

    • The Baby Express:
Research-based podcasts about important child development, learning, health and parenting topics from the Frank Porter Graham Center at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. These podcasts can be downloaded to MP3 players or iPods.
    • Fresh information about lead and toy safety and cough and cold medicines for children under two years of age.
    • Links to the new Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Video Glossary, the first-of-its kind Web-based video glossary developed by Autism Speaks and Florida State University's FIRST WORDS Project. In many cases, side-by-side video clips show behaviors that are of typically developing children in contrast with those that are red flags for ASD.
    • A moderated online forum where parents can pose parenting questions or suggestions and respond to postings made by other parents.
    • Video library with over 75 videos that can be played in parenting classes, home visits, community settings or on personal computers.
    • Links to interactive online tools on numerous topics important for parents of infants on the “Parenting A-Z” Web pages.

  • Later this fall, www.MNParentsKnow.info will include Web pages for parents with toddlers (1-2 year olds) and preschoolers (3-5 year olds).
This service is provided free of charge by the Minnesota Department of Education.

If you have any questions or problems with the subscription service, please contact
