Counselor's Announcements
The next ACT will be given on June 14th. Deadline for registration is May 9th. The representative from Ridgewater College will be on our campus Thursday April 17th at 10:45. Please get your pre-signed pass from either Mrs. Tighe or Mrs. Rothmeier. There will be an 8th grade WE lunch meeting for those interested on Friday in the conference room. 12th grade WE lunch meeting Friday in the conference room. SCHOLARSHIPS: The American Lung Association of Minnesota and Minnesota Soybean Growers Association invite seniors to apply for the 2008 Minnesota Clean Air Choice scholarship. A personal essay on the topic of biodiesel is required. www.CleanAirChoice.org The top award is $500. Deadline is 4-30-08 Is your parent or guardian a member of the Minnesota AFL-CIO? If yes, the application for their five $1000 scholarships is now available. Must have 3.0 GPA. April 30th deadline. Once again, the Cedar Mountain Chapter of Dollars For Scholars will be awarding several $250 scholarships to members of the Class of 2008. All seniors planning to further their education beyond high school are welcome to apply. Applications are available in the counselor's office. Deadline is May 1st. The application for the $2500 Isabelle Poncin Scholarship is now available in the counselor's office. Applicants must have a zipcode of 56266. Two essays required. Deadline May 1st. Four $1000 Leslie & Irene Wegner Endowment Scholarships will be awarded to members of the Class of 2008. Applicants must be choosing an agricultural related major or a medical career major in order to qualify for consideration. Two essays required. Deadline May 1st. Think you might run a little short on financial aid resources for college next year? Martin & Winifred Ehlers are offering student loans to students from Redwood County. A student may receive a loan of up to $5000 per year at zero per cent interest in order to pursue their post-high school education. Loans are paid back in monthly payments over seven years. Applications are due May 9th. www.radc.org for the application Minnesota salon owners are sponsoring $500 scholarships for individuals interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering. The College Board Free College Scholarship Search & Financial Aid Resources College Scholarships.com The Free Scholarship Search and Information Service School Soup PROTOCOL APPLIED WHEN COLLEGE/ARMED FORCES REPRESENTATIVES VISIT OUR CAMPUS: Students should carefully select the representatives they wish to speak with, since no student can afford to miss the class time it would take to visit with all the representatives. Advanced notice of visits are printed in the daily announcements and appear on the Cedar Mountain website. Students are to get a pass from Mrs. Tighe or Eileen prior to the day of the visit, and talk to their teacher about missing class. All worked missed must be promptly made up. If there is a test or other major conflict, students will not be released from class. Visiting with a college representative is an important service to students, but the visits should never interfere with classroom activity. For further information please see Mrs. Tighe.
